Sheds – we love them because that’s where we started, a two garage shed in Lilyfield, Sydney.
With simple beginnings, you have a different outlook. How can we achieve the most in a shed?
With our paper cut technique we designed “Follow Your Imagination”, and it was this first range with Free Spirit in the United States that launched us onto the worldwide crafting stage.
After three years a larger studio called to us, and we moved. “2 Young Street” was to become both our home and the name of our second range with Marcus Fabrics in NY. Young Street saw a lot of Prints Charming events: our regular Christmas Market Days, our book launch in May 2010, the Rainbow Garden fabric range (again with Marcus Fabrics), screen printing and embroidery classes and not forgetting our Wednesday night sewing club. The most inspiring part for us has been the many customers who have become friends.
Our first love, though, is mixing our own colour palette of inks and screen printing fabric. The serendipitous overplay of colours that occurs while hand printing our designs still excites and has become part of the Prints Charming signature look.
