Preparing for Market Day

Full steam ahead in the studio as we prepare for our Market Day. We've all been working really hard...

...especially the little man below, working so hard he fell asleep in the cosy quilt. Must have been the comfort of curling up in a hand made item that did it!

New goodies getting packed, ready to sell...

We'll also be at Magnolia Square the week before so, as you can imagine, we've got lots of work to do!

Art and About

Last week Bowie Style, who writes a gorgeous blog - print & pattern did a really nice write up on Prints Charming, so a big thank you to Bowie.

Check out her latest blog for some great inspiration. And if you're not from her part of the world (UK) try not to be too jealous of the great Anthropologie store that has just opened in London!

On the weekend, Kirsten and her family went to the Art and About festival put on by the City of Sydney. A fabulous event showcasing a huge variety of art and artists. Sadly many of the events are now finished but check out the website for more upcoming events.

They had a wonderful time and here are some fab shots of the I heart kings cross exhibition. This creative project was developed by Michelle McCosker and Alasdair Nicol from artist collective Reef Knot. 

Here's one that reminded us of the great Dr Suess...

Can you PYOF?

Our PYOF (print your own fabric) went off with a bang last Thursday.

It was a great sunny day to print and apart from the roadworks on the street out the front, very peaceful and productive. (The trucks did come in handy though; to amuse the various toddlers who popped into the store with their mothers in tow.)

The screen printing class is our most popular class - 4 students come into the studio and learn how to hand screen print using the paper cut method we often use here at Prints Charming.

Cool Quilts

Last Friday the studio was buzzing with action with some very busy quilting going on.

Beverley has been teaching a quilting class over the last few weeks and below are shots of some of the quilts the students are making. The course has covered the basics of quilting including choosing your fabrics, techniques and individual guidance along the way. Of course the best bit is that after all the hard work, you get to go home with a quilt to put somewhere special.

We always enjoy visits from all our customers and friends and pictured below are some  special Prints Charming friends. They dropped in all the way from Switzlerland while on holidays in Australia. Don't the girls have gorgeous happy smiles?!

Back from the Stitches and Craft Show

Well, back from the Stitches and Craft show and what a great time we had! Here's a few photos to show you our stand. And for those who weren't able to get there, check out our shop for lots of new additions.

We had a huge response to last week's blog calling for name suggestions for our latest creation and our favourite was Kaleidoscope, which makes Anne the winner! So Anne email us your details so we can send you a surprise in the mail.

And a big thank you to everyone for all the fabulous suggestions!

We spent yesterday madly packing for the Stitches and Craft show. It was worth it because the truck showed up and our stuff got neatly packed on board and today we are ready to set up our stand to greet you all from Wednesday onwards.

So make sure you pay us a visit at stand 136 and see our new wares.

We are also running 2 craft labs where you can learn to embroider a Prints Charming Hand printed patch like the one below...bookings taken at our stand 136 at the show.

An unexpected visit

Well, this week we were paid an unexpected but very lovely visit from a couple all the way from Phoenix, Arizona!

Colette and Jeff had seen Prints Charming fabrics in the USA and then saw some more of our latest collection at Material Obsession. Kathy kindly gave them directions to our shop in Annandale so in they came! So thank you, Kathy.

Here you see Colette and Jeff with Kirsten and Cath. Jeff is holding a freshly printed motif hot off the table...our gorgeous new design printed on gingham. What's so great is that it wasn't only Colette who loved our stuff, Jeff is a keen quilter too.

Now speaking of new designs...we need a name for this new baby.

So all of you out there in blogland, get your thinking caps on and send us your suggestions. We'll send a prize for the best name!

We are still madly packing new goodies up for the Stitches and Craft show and here's a sneak peak at some more kits we're making....

And last but not least, a huge thankyou for these beautiful flowers which brought tears to our eyes when they arrived.....(you know who you are...)

Stitches and Craft show in Sydney

...another count down has begun at the Prints Charming studio. The Sydney Stitches and Craft show. The date is zooming towards us faster than an express train and we are excited about the new things we will have there.  (19-23 August 2009 Rosehill Racecourse)

We'll be at stand 136 at the show and we are also involved in the fabulous Craft Labs.
Cath and Kirsten will be running 2 stitching workshops so check out the details and make a booking if it takes your fancy. Learn basic embroidery stitches and take home a Prints Charming Hand printed patch.

A jaunt to Bowral

Last week we had a wonderful adventure to the NSW highlands and went to visit Lynne at My Place in Bowral, NSW. It's a quick trip from Sydney and we had a gorgeous time rumaging around the town.

Here we are out the front of Lynne's beautiful shop. She stocks a wonderful array of fabric, homewares and an abundance of beautiful things. It's definitely worth a trip or even a detour if you are in the vicinity.

It was also extra special because both of our Mums came with us and here they are - Margaret and Heather!
